PDO Thread Lift
Lift & Tighten
What Are PDO Threads?
Polydioxanone (PDO) thread lifts use a biodegradable synthetic suture that breaks down in the body after approximately 6 months. They consist of surgical grade materials that are well accepted within the body. The sutures have small barbs that allow it to anchor into the tissue and allow us to pull and lift the facial tissue. The presence of the suture triggers cells in your body called fibroblasts to produce more collagen and elastin. Eventually this collagen and elastin will replace the suture as it dissolves. Collagen is a protein that gives your skin structure and elasticity. We are able to use different types of threads to help with different concerns. Some are for skin rejuvenation, while others are for support and lifting.
Results can last up to 2 years. It is often recommended to have more than one treatment after the 6 weeks depending on each patients facial fat, skin condition and outcome desired.

What to Expect During Treatment
It is preferred that you attend your appointment without makeup. This is to ensure the area can be properly cleansed and we are able to view any changes in the skin. After the area being treated is cleaned, we inject a small amount of xylocaine in the area being treated. Only about 2 needle pokes are given to place the threads through. The threads are administered using a hollow blunt needle called a cannula. Once the threads have been placed, the cannula is removed and the threads are tightened and massaged. Your injector will be monitoring you closely during the treatment. Most treatments take 30-45 minutes.
What to Expect Post Procedure
After your appointment, it is common to have mild bruising, discomfort and swelling. This is temporary and should begin to resolve over the next few weeks. It is best to avoid exercise for 72 hours after. Avoid heat such as saunas, hot baths and hot tubs for 72 hours. Gentle upward massage with your facial moisturizer is recommended. Using topical ice application, acetaminophen and keeping your head elevated during sleep may help reduce discomfort. Topical Arnica may be applied to help reduce bruising. Puckers and tenderness are a normal part of he healing process. This could take a few weeks. Booking a 4 week follow up appointment is encouraged.
